LEGO News, Reviews and Builds

Take a look at the steampunk inspired Cipher Machine which has become the latest set to gather 10,000 supporters on the LEGO Ideas platform.

The latest set to reach the all important 10,000 votes on the LEGO Ideas platform is a working Cipher Machine. The device, designed by Norders, encrypts messages using a range of substitution ciphers. Only someone with the same machine, and the knowledge of which cipher was used, can decrypt the message.

Norders is no stranger to the Ideas platform, having previously had two variations of the flying car, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, reach the magic 10,000 votes, but neither were destined to go into production. For their encoding machine design, Norders has chosen a Victorian, almost steampunk, style in gold and dark grey. Messages (either plain text or encoded) are input via the wheel on the left, and the coded message (or the decoded message, depending on the mode), is displayed on the right.

Cipher Machine becomes the 14th set to enter the next review stage. You can see a full list of all the successful submissions so far, in the list below.
